Tata’s Sanand plant to be operational by fiscal-end

MUMBAI (Commodity Online): The manufacturing of the small car, Tata Nano will start from the last quarter of the current fiscal, as the company officials put in.

Tata Motors Ltd, which shifted its manufacturing facility from Singur in West Bengal to Sanand in Gujarat owing to a tiff protest from the locals there, has decided to roll out its small car from its Sanand plant in the beginning of the next fiscal.

The company has its manufacturing facility at Pantnagar in Uttarakhand, where about 3000-4000 Nano cars are manufactured per month. The company aims to reach to the full capacity utilization by next six to eight months.

The company had said earlier its new Nano factory at Sanand will have an initial capacity of 250,000 cars per year, which can be ramped up to 350,000 cars per year at a later date.

The company stocks closed at Rs.649.55 on Monday with a rise of 1.11%. The stock prices have surged significantly over past three months, rising over 40% from Rs.457.75 on August 24, 2009 to its recent levels.
